30 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

TACO SOUP   by  Brenda Crowson  -  1978

 

1 lb. ground beef                                 2 (16 oz.) cans pinto beans, drained

1 large onion, chopped                       1 (4 oz..) can green chilies, chopped

2 cans tomatoes (plain or stewed)      1 ˝ to 2 tsp. cumin

1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce                  3 cups water

1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste

 

     Brown ground beef and drain.  Mix all ingredients and simmer about four hours, until juice thickens.  Serve with tortilla chips or crackers.
