30 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

SKILLET DINNER  -  Mattie Howard  -  1978

1 lb. ground round                               1 (11oz.) can Mexicorn

3 green onions, chopped with tops      1 (6 oz.) pkg. cornbread mix

dash of Worcestershire sauce              1 (8 oz.) jar Cheez Whiz cheese

1 (15 oz.) can Ranch Style beans

     Brown meat and onions in a large skillet until crumbly.  Drain off fat.  Lower heat.  Add Worcestershire sauce, bean, salt, pepper, and corn.  Let simmer about 5 minutes.  Stir once and mix well.

     Mix cornbread mix according to package directions.  Remove meat mixture from heat and spread cheese over meat, then add the cornbread mix over cheese.  (Don’t stir.)  Bake at 350 degrees until corn bread is brown and cheese is bubbly around the sides.  “Ready to serve.”
