50 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

POTATO SALAD  by  Mrs. Louise Griswold  -  1961

 

6 large potatoes                     4 Tbsp. chopped, green peppers

1 large onion                         1 tsp. salt

˝ cup vinegar                       1 tsp. celery salt

2 Tbsp. bacon grease            ˝ tsp. pepper

4 hard boiled eggs                ˝ Tbsp. flour

 

     Boil potatoes, peel, chill, and slice.  Finely chop the onions and mix with potatoes.  Mix vinegar, bacon grease and seasonings.  Heat this mixture to boiling and thicken with flour; pour over potatoes and onions.  Mix and cool.  Serve on lettuce leaves, or garnish with sprigs of parsley.
