50 year Old Shepherd RECIPES   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers

 

INEXPENSIVE LEMON PIE  by Mrs. J. A. Jarboe  -  1956

 

1 cup sugar                        2 eggs

1 lemon                             1 cup boiling water

2 tbsp. cornstarch

 

   Add the grated rind of 1 lemon also the juice to the sugar.  Beat egg yolks until light and then add cornstarch which has been dissolved in a little cold water.  Mix thoroughly with the lemon and sugar.  Put in double boiler and add the hot water.  Cook until it thickens, stirring constantly.  Pour into pie crust and top with meringue.
