30 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

HURRY-UP CHOWDER  by  Nancy Dees  -  1978

 

1 small onion, grated                    1 can cream style corn

1 tsp. bacon drippings                  1 tsp. pepper

2 cups water                                1 can cream of chicken soup

1 cup milk                                    pimento (optional)

salt and pepper to taste

 

     Lightly sauté onion in drippings in a large saucepan.  Stir in remaining ingredients, except pimento.  Simmer about five minutes, stirring occasionally.  Pour into bowls and sprinkle pieces of pimento on top of color, if desired.
