50 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

HAM WITH POTATOES  -  Mrs. Kay Nichols  -  1961

 

1 Tbsp. oleo                                     2 Tbsp. brown sugar

1 lb. slice of cured ham                   1 cup hot water

2 medium sweet potatoes, pared

 

     Cut ham into serving pieces and fry in frying pan until lightly browned.  Place in baking dish and cover with pared sweet potatoes.  Sprinkle with brown sugar.  Add water to ham drippings and pour over potatoes.  Cover and bake a t 350 deg. about 45 to 50 minutes, basting occasionally with liquid.  Remove cover for last 15 minutes.
