30 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

HAMBURGER SUMMER SAUSAGE  -  Mable Smith  -  1978

 

5 lbs. hamburger                                    2 ˝ tsp. black pepper

5 rounded tsp. Morton Tender Quick    2 ˝ tsp. garlic salt

     salt                                                    1 tsp. hickory smoked salt

2 ˝ tsp. mustard seed

     Mix well and cover, then refrigerate.  Take out once a day for three days and mix well.  The 4th day, form into rolls and lay on a rack in broiler pan.  Bake for 10 hours at 140 to 150 degrees.

     Note from Mable:  Our kids were raised in Indiana on hamburger fixed in many different ways.  I have included many of my recipes.
