FRUIT SALAD (World War I army cook) - Mrs. Earlene Jones - 1961
2 large apples 4 oranges
1 #2 can sliced pineapple 3 bananas
(do not use pineapple juice) 1 can Bakers Angel Flake coconut
2 cups miniature marshmallows
Cut into small pieces. Make the following sauce:
1 whole grated lemon and 1 ˝ cups sugar
the juice of another lemon ˝ cup milk
1 beaten egg dash of salt
Mix all together and cook over low heat until it boils. Let cool and pour over fruit. Nuts and more sugar and lemon juice may be added, if desired.
