50 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

BARBECUE PATTIES  by  Mrs. Naomi Ward  -  1961

 

½ cup fine dry bread                2 Tbsp. fat

¼ cup milk                               2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

½ lb. hamburger                       1 Tbsp. vinegar

1 ½ tsp. salt                              ½ cup catsup

¼ tsp. pepper                            1 onion, chopped

     Soak crumbs in milk and mix with meat, ½ tsp. salt and 1/8 tsp. pepper.  Shape into 8 patties.  Brown patties in hot fat in skillet.  Then add Worcestershire, vinegar, catsup, onion, 1 tsp. salt and ¼ tsp. pepper.  Cover and simmer about ½ hour.
