BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES by Mrs. Milo Shirley
1 gal. cucumbers ˝ c. salt
10 onions, small 2 qt. ice cubes
Cut cucumbers and onions crosswise ˝” thick. Sprinkle salt over cucumbers and onions. Bury in ice and let stand 3 hours. Cover with weight on top. Drain after 3 hours. Mix.
5 cup sugar ˝ tsp. cloves (whole)
5 cup vinegar 1 tsp. celery seed
1 ˝ tsp. tumeric powder 2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Put pickles in and heat to boiling. Pack in jars and seal
