25 year Old Shepherd Recipes   Venture into the kitchens of the past if you dare by trying these old fashioned recipes of a bygone generation of Shepherd homemakers.

 

TWENTY FOUR HOUR SLAW  -  Martha McDowell – 1983

 

1 head cabbage, shredded finely             1 bell pepper, chopped

1 medium onion, shredded finely            7 to 10 black olives, sliced

 

Dressing:

˝ cup vinegar               1 tsp. salt

˝ cup sugar                  1 tsp. celery seed

1 tsp. mustard              1/8 tsp. black pepper

 

     Prepare first four ingredients and set aside.  In saucepan, mix all ingredients.  Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute.  Pour while hot over cabbage.  Stir well and refrigerate.  Keeps well!
